ASHLEY'S BIO

Hailing from a family of music scholars and piano technicians, Ashley developed a love for music from an early age. He began his education at 6 years old, learning the cello with Heather Bills - herself a former pupil of the legendary Jacqueline du Pre and Amaryllis Fleming. Aged 13, Ashley joined the cello section of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain where he gained orchestral experience, playing at esteemed venues such as The Sage, Gateshead and St David's Hall, Cardiff.

Ashley studied piano with Elizabeth Ellis (ARCM FRCM DipAdvanced Performance RCM) from 2002 to 2004 and qualified as a piano teacher within two years of having received his first piano lesson.

Ashley later attended the Royal College of Music, London under scholarship where he studied a joint honours degree in piano and cello under the instruction of Kathron Sturrock (ARCM) and Alexander Boyarsky (HonRCM) respectively. Whilst studying for his BMus, Ashley also gained his Licentiate performance certificate from Trinity College London. As a student, Ashley was in high demand as a lounge pianist and enjoyed playing at venues such as The Ritz, The Savoy and Mayfair 1 hotels.

Ashley has played at many illustrious venues throughout the UK including the Royal Albert Hall, Wales Millennium Centre and the National Gallery. He has played at functions for HRH The Prince of Wales, their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and most recently at a private engagement for the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon Theresa May MP.

Further afield, Ashley performed at the Rio de Janeiro Arts Centre whilst engaged as a resident pianist on board the Queen Elizabeth for Cunard's world voyage.
